Friday Randoms

I live in a sleepy small town, but come Christmas, it is lit up for all to enjoy.

While I haven't heard of them being called Funeral Potatoes before, they are some serious comfort food.

Here is a list of interesting online stores, with Uncommon Goods being my favorite.

Quite possibly the best version of The Twelve Days of Christmas ever.

Leaving you with some Nina Simone and a bit of Christmas music for the weekend.  Make it a good one, won't you?!

Linking up with Tanya today.

  5. Hi Michelle, As we get near the end of the year it seems appropriate to take a look back and reflect on things. When I clicked on It's A Small Town Life this morning my first thought was how great it has been to be following your blog in this journey through the blogosphere. And this journey has gone on for several years now! :-) I continue to be inspired by your design and photography. I think Blogspot calls them "themes" and the one you are using and the way you have it setup is just excellent. And your photography continues to get better and better. Today's Christmas lights shot is so cool. I just don't know where you find the time to keep up such an excellent publication, AND teach, AND take care of a family! You are truly an inspiration. Thank you for sharing your blog and for your kind comments on mine. I'm sending along best regards from Seattle and wishing you and yours a wonderful Christmas! John

  6. You are so lucky that your town is big enough for such things as lights. Our little towns that I live between only each have a grocery store, and the other was has a tavern and hairdresser. That's it. Oregon gorge little towns. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

I love those potatoes. Never heard that name either.
There looks like some fun shopping at those sites.
That is the best 12 days ever - laughing like crazy here!
    Thanks for the music!

  10. 'funeral potatoes' - a favorite dish but I've never heard the term before. Come to think of it they do appear often at funeral dinners.

  11. Great picture and have seen the video of the 12 days till Christmas before and it is a hoot! Had to save the funeral potatoes in my recipe to try box....

  12. I love potatoes, so I saved the recipes and also the best web sites for gifts. Thanks for all that information. And also for reminding me that you have shared the Swedish Lucia tradition with your students. That's so great.

  13. It seems to me that the stark simplicity displayed in the first two pictures is much more appealing than the glitter in the third image.
