My Current Mood

As a Kentucky teacher I can tell you that change is coming.  Our state government has borrowed from our pension funds in the past and is now trying to rectify the situation, not entirely in our favor. Budget cuts, raising health insurance, and retirement cuts are all on the line.   An unfavorable bill was even passed, on the down low, attached to a sewage bill.  Dirty politics at its finest, both literally and figuratively.

Yesterday our illustrious governor announced he intends to veto everything with two days left in the session.  Where does that leave us?  Time will tell.

At the moment this cow showcases my mood.

  1. Having served as a teacher here in Florida and in Illinois, I know from experience that you have to watch those bastards in the state legislatures at all times. They really don't care about nor do they like teachers. And they will steal your money and make your life hell. In New Jersey, the former governor stole the pension fund and gave it to his friends on Wall Street. Teacher unions, strong teacher unions, help but the Koch Brothers and their ALEC organization are working hard to make it difficult for teachers to survive in just about every state. And in Kansas, that governor and crooks in the legislature cut taxes so bad, they had to close schools. All to help out the rich folks who deserve so much more, you understand. Good luck to you. I'm just wondering when the voters are going to figure out they keep voting in people who want to hurt them in every way and make some changes.

  4. Our teachers are on their second week of a strike for higher wages. Seems all the money goes to other things than teacher salaries. The state government has screwed our finances up and the teachers are left out. They deserve high raises, but the state is in the hole big time. They don't make the oil and gas companies pay their fair share and the politicians are in the business pockets i.e. Scott Pruitt. It is a sad state of affairs everywhere.

  5. It feels lately like government everywhere has gotten so far away from "we, the people". Love the image! lol...

  6. Watch out when government shows up to help you. My wife is a teacher but from what I have seen there are a lot of workers who have it even worse especially those forced into part time work by other government attempts to help. I think they help the people who donate money and go through publicity motions for everyone else and it ends up a negative in the end. That is a nice looking cow by the way.

  16. Dirty politics, indeed! What disgusting people! I hope they are all replaced in the next elections. Time to get some good honorable people in office.. there are some.. we have a few great ones in Oregon that actually take care of all of us.. even the poorest amongst us. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  20. Unbelievable how individuals (elected) government officials can misuse pension funds as they do. These funds should be protected by law to prevent this type criminal behaviour.

You cow has a keen sense of the absurd happening in your state legislature. :-)

  23. That’s been my mood since the last national election (re. Our political situation only). I AM thankful for much else in my life, as I know you are. Something has to change politically. I can’t understand how so many people vote against their own best interest.
