Super Sunday

This weekend marks the start of my summer break.  Catching up on some sleep, extra time for reading and Netflix, makes for a great weekend. I also caught the royal wedding yesterday, while enjoying a few cups of coffee.

Our weather has been great and the top came off of the Jeep, for the season.  A ride on some back roads found this barn.  Looking pretty new, I think.

This weekend has been full of work, as well.  This trailer has only a mere fraction of mulch left in it.

The rest has been spread throughout landscaping beds.  I am thinking Megan Markle does not mulch her own flower beds, but then again she doesn't have the pleasure of living on The Farmette.

Last summer I bought a tiny lilac bush and with sunshine and water, it has grown into this beast.  It produced fragrant blooms its first season.  I am looking forward to more next year.

I discovered this tiny, basket shaped nest in our Norwegian Maple tree.
Sweet to see.....

What's on tap for this week, you wonder?  Well, our high school softball girls start their district tournament tomorrow night.  More landscaping is in my future, and another visit to an Amish family.  They have the best produce and flowers.

  1. The barn looks so clean and neat like it's brand new! Don't see many barns looking so good. So good like your lilac bush - you must have a green thumb!

  4. Enjoy your summer break! I still have to have 2.5 weeks for that, and those next two weeks will be pure madness at the high school where I work. But I also enjoy it.
Mulch is good for the flower beds. Your lilac looks very healthy. What color are its flowers? Cute nest - do you know which bird built it?

  11. Still a few days of school left here then my vacationing teacher will most likely go into a cleaning frenzy as we still have winter stuff on the porch.

  12. I would live to gi ANYWHERE the Amish sell their goods!

How I wish I could frow a lilac bush (we're in the wrong zone for them...too hot, too wet)

  13. It seems you have a wonderful summer off in store, Michelle, and how my husband would love to have a Jeep that has a removable top, but at least his older Grand Cherokee has a sun roof which he rarely uses in summer time heat. We well remember those days of mulching the garden from our VA vegetable gardens. Yeah to spring and summer time softball and baseball season.

    God bless.

  16. The lilacs look like they love being at the Farmette. Enjoy your summer break, have lots of fun and don't work too hard.

  17. Love that nest, but lilacs can be show stoppers. I often pull over just to smell them.they bloom at peak of mushroom season so remind me to keep going out.

  18. Your place will look great. Won't it be wonderful to have more free time to do what you want?

BTW, I do very little of my own gardening these days, but Susie is an avid gardener. She got three kinds of tomatoes: cherry tomatoes to plant near a patio so her little girls can pick them and eat them right off the plant when they are ripe, big tomatoes for salads, and heirloom tomatoes because they are interesting.

  20. Summer mode, good for you! As a teacher you definitely earned it...
Nice looking trailer you have for hauling your mulch, be a good trailer for firewood too.

  22. Nice clean lines on the barn.
Lots of work shoveling off a trailer. I've done it many times.
We now have a small dump trailer which make things so much easier.
