Observations of the Week

I found this sweet bird nest in the middle of the lilac bush I planted last year.  It has had a crazy growth spurt and this nest has been hidden deep in the foliage.

A canine friend is the best kind of friend.  This one has been by my side for 13 years and counting.

Local road crews have been clearing the sides of our small country roads.  This wild flower is one that survived.

This is Cleome #2 this season.  Cleome #1 was posted on Instagram.  I am glad to see their appearance.

In other news.....life is mellow and good.  I chatted with the substitute mail person, who happens to be my cousin.  My local full service gas station gifted me with candy on a fill up and the quesadillas I made for supper were a hit.

Buying more paint tomorrow.

I can't wait!

Yes, yes...I can.

  18. Such a sweet little surprise nest to find!
Little birds made nests in side our roll up awning to protect the babies from the magpies and hawks. We can't open the awning till the end of June when all the babies fledge. My best friend in brooklyn had Jack Russels--they are such great little dogs.

  19. I so enjoy seeing the little bird eggs this time of year. The only thing is....we have to watch for snakes. They like the bird eggs......and I don't like snakes. Sounds like your day has been great. I love the small town life of having a full service gas station...

  20. I think of my sweet Hunter, who went over the Rainbow Bridge a few years ago when I see your furry buddy. Beautiful wildflower capture... it always makes me a bit sad when they mow the sides of the road.

  24. My daughter found a bird's nest in a hanging flower basket she put out a month ago. Sacrificing a few flowers for helping some birds get a good start seemed like a fine trade-off for her.
